Catalog planning, product maintenance
and release process

A web-to-publish system usually has to handle catalogs a little differently than ordinary print products such as business cards. In addition to the actual design of a catalog, catalog planning, product maintenance and the approval process also play a decisive role in catalog production.

Thanks to the special extension of the HTML5 editor with a product selection, products can be placed on the catalog template using drag & drop. By specifying product templates, you can then decide on the product which layout should be used for the view.

The following video demonstrates product selection via drag & drop and subsequent layout changes using product templates in printformer.

Interaction with other media asset management systems

In order for printformer to provide products within the HTML5 editor, it must be possible to manage them in a central location. This is where the powerful PIM module comes in, which enables the central data storage of different files and products. Here you can easily maintain your products and use attributes to decide independently which information should be assigned to each product.

In many cases, catalog production takes place in different steps and also requires the release or approval of different instances. With the powerful Workflow module, several users can be integrated into a workflow for approval or correction. This allows a franchiser, for example, to check all the promotional flyers created by his franchisees for incorrect product placement or input errors before printing.

Thanks to the rights management included in printformer Suite, entered products can only be assigned to specific users. This allows a franchisor to decide which branch is allowed to use which products in a promotional flyer.
